MAGIC COMES HOME

Every week a different child from each class takes Magic Dragon, our friendly English mascot, home with them for the weekend. They speak to him in English and take them everywhere with him, and then they send us photos of all the adventures that they have had with Magic and we stick them on Magic´s house for everyone to see. We wanted to show you Magic´s house and some of the photos we have had so far.

Here are all the children who were chosen last week

LITTLE CHEF

This is the third year that we are holding the Little Chef competition at Entreolivos, which has been a great success for the past two years. The idea is that the children learn to have fun and use their imagination trying new flavours and ingredients, whilst at the same time learning healthy eating habits. We would like to invite all the children from Year 1, Year 2 and Year 3 to participate in our Little Chef competition. You can also invite friends and family of the same age to participate with us!

It will take place on Saturday 5th of November at 12pm, but the children participating need to arrive at 11.30 to get ready. You can sign up before the 31st of October by emailing littlechefentreolivos@fomento.edu

THE WHEELS ON THE BUS

In Year one we have been learning a story about a little boy called Billy and his first day at school. We learn about Billy´s school day, and his journey to school on the school bus.

Look how we can sing and dance in English!

The wheels on the bus go round and round, round and round, round and round,
The wheels on the bus go round and round on our way to school.

The driver on the bus goes beep beep beep, beep beep beep, beep beep beep,
The driver on the bus goes beep, beep, beep, on our way to school.

The doors on the bus go open and close, open and close, open and close,
The doors on the bus go open and close on our way to school.

The boys and girls go up and down, up and down, up and down,
The boys and girls go up and down on our way to school.

Billy on the bus goes cry cry cry, cry cry cry, cry cry cry,

DRESSING UP IN ENGLISH CLASS

In each unit that we study in English there is a story for us to learn. This month we have been looking at different parts of the school and the people who work there, and our story is "Lost and Found". We have been dressing up as the characters and practising a role-play. It has been so much fun that we thought we would show you what we have been doing. STAY TUNED because in a few weeks we are going to show you a video of the role-play we have been doing!

Do not miss out!

WORKING ON OUR PRONUNCIATION IN THE ENGLISH CORNER
As part of Fomento´s Magic Dragon Project, we also learn phonics in order to help us with our pronunciation. At Entreolivos we learn phonics with teacher Severine in the English Corner in small groups of three or four

It is important for us to learn phonics while we are still in the infant school in order to give us the best possible pronunciation, as while we are young we are still able to produce any sound that you can imagine. This gives us a huge advantage as we grow up! The Fomento phonics project, following the bilingual principles of the school, tries to emulate the way in which british born native children learn to produce different sounds - we learn sounds within the context of a word. This means we are also improving our vocabulary at the same time. It´s pretty clever, don´t you think?

Aside from pronunciation, we also work on the concept of rhyming and even learn to produce other words that rhyme, and we can discriminate between words that contain the sound we are learning and the ones that do not. The Project also incorporates games, movement, and the use of the interactive whiteboards/Ipads.

MAKING SENTENCES ABOUT OUR SCHOOL

The first unit we are learning in English is about our school and in Year 3 we look at the different people and parts of it, including the secretary and the bus driver. In Year 3A we have been making sentences about what these people do and what happens in these different places.

BACK TO SCHOOL AND BACK TO THE ENGLISH CORNER

Now that we have come back to school and settled into our English classes again, we have also begun learning in the English corners with Teacher Severine. The English corners are a special place we go to in groups of three to practise our communication and conversational skills in English. The children in Year 3 have been practising answering some different questions about themselves.

What do you think? We think you´ll agree that they can remember a lot from last year!
