MAGIC IS GOING ON A SUMMER HOLIDAY:

This week is Magic´s last week at school before he goes on summer holiday to London with his family. Before he left, he wanted to give the children a special reminder of all the hard work that they have done with him this year in the English Corner, and all the fun that they have had!

HAVE A GREAT SUMMER HOLIDAY!

1,2,3,4,5 ONCE I CAUGHT A FISH ALIVE

Music and songs form an important part of the Magic dragon project and are a key factor in the successful learning on English. Furthermore, they are a lot of fun and we enjoy singing and dancing in the classrooms with our teachers whilst we act out the songs. Here is a class of 4 year olds singing a traditional childrens song.

OUR SCHOOL TRIP

This week the children from Year 2 and Year 3 went on a school trip to see a play about a man who loved recording the countryside. We had a lot of fun taking Magic dragon everywhere with us and learning how to imitate the sound of the rain. Take a look at some of our favourite moments with Magic.

HOW TO SET THE TABLE

As part of this month´s unit where we are learning different types of food we have been thinking about how to set the table. In Year 1 we set up a dinner table in the classroom with a table cloth, a knife, a fork, a spoon, a plate and a glass.

THE FINISHED PRODUCT...

Last week we showed you some photos of how we were painting different spring bugs with stamps made from potatoes, apples, and even our own hands and fingers! Now we want to show you the result of all that stamping. We had great fun decorating the spring wall with all the animals we had made and talking about them with our teachers.

A SPRING POEM

In Year 1 (3 years old) we have been learning a poem about beautiful flowers that we can see in spring. The poems not only help us learn vocabulary, but also rhythm and prounciation, two factors which are very important in English.

I CAN SEE A RAINBOW

With the mixed weather that we have in spring, we often have days of rain, days of sunshine, and even days where it is rainy and sunny at the same time. On these special days, we are sometimes lucky
enough to see a rainbow, so we decided to sing you a song about rainbows. We also wanted to show you how well we know the lifecycle of the butterfly.

Do you know as much about spring as we do?

THE ARRIVAL OF SPRING

With the arrival of spring has come the arrival of a new unit where we learn all about different insects that we can see during the season, and the plants that grow and how to take care of them. Year 2 wanted to show you how they perform a Spring poem.
Take a look!

WELCOMING SPRING INTO THE INFANT SCHOOL

In the Infant school we have been so excited about welcoming spring into the building, so we decided to create a huge spring mural. Each class contributed a different flower, insect or another typical thing that we can see in spring. It´s a work in progress, but have a peek at how it´s going.

HOW DO WE PLAY IN SPRING?

As you know, we have been working on our public speaking in English via the project "Magic Talk". The children in Year 1 (3 years old) have been talking about different things we can see in our wonderful playground during spring.

We think you´ll agree that it´s amazing how well they can already speak in English!

THE THIRD DAY OF THE CULTURAL FAIR

Today was the last day of the cultural fair, and we finished with a bang. Once again, the older girls continued with the wonderful activities that they had organised: The storytelling of "Room on the broom" and the workshops to make kangaroo ears.

We also went to see the minishows that were performed by the girls from the primary school. We really enjoyed them and we want to congratulate the girls!
WELL DONE!

DAY TWO OF THE CULTURAL FAIR

Today we had a lot of different activities to take part in. First thing this morning we went outside to the listen to a story about Geraldine the giraffe who learnt how to dance. After that, we took it in turns to go outside to make kangaroo ears in workshops which the older girls had prepared for us! We had a great time colouring and jumping like kangaroos.

DAY ONE OF THE CULTURAL FAIR

Today was the first day of the Cultural Fair, and we had many activities in English to enjoy. First of all, some girls from the sixth form came to tell us a story called "Room on the broom". We really enjoyed learning about the characters and listening to the story with them.

Then we also had a special visit from a kangaroo, a typical australian animal. We talked to the kangaroo about its defining features, its colour, and its pouch, and then we gave her a hug.

THANK YOU TO ALL THE GIRLS WHO
HELPED TO MAKE IT SUCH A SPECIAL DAY!

WATCH US MAKE SENTENCES IN ENGLISH

As well as learning a lot of new vocabulary, within the magic Dragon project we also learn how to insert this vocabulary into sentences, giving it more context and reinforcing our learning. The children in Year 2 (4 years old) have been making their own sentences with mixed vocabulary from various units, and the children in Year 1 are learning how to construct basic sentences too!
